Weekly Accountability

Hi, everyone! It’s that time again! Weekly updates delivered every Friday! I actually have some hopefully very exciting Patreon news to share! Whoohoo!

Before that, though, Patreon has thankfully reacted very quickly to the erroneous flag and fixed it. Hopefully that’ll be the end of it for good, but I’m sure I’ll have to deal with it again.

So… Last year in August I asked people what they wanted me to record for the Lynn reads events. This basically means I’m reading my own work and recording it. I’m not a professional reader at all, but I enjoy it and, hopefully, you will too. They’re available to all Patrons under the tag “lynn reads” (yes, so creative, I knooooooow), but given my current situation recording them tends to be… sporadic. (Basically: I live ina  very noisy area.) But I finally had a chance to record a whole set at once (mostly because they’re short) and so… Starting March, the Lynn reads posts are coming back with a schedule!

For the first 6 months, I’ll be sharing one story per month from Tales of the Little Engine to wrap up the set (also because I like them) on the first Tuesday of the month, so that’s: March 5th, April 2nd, May 7th, June 4th, July 2nd, and August 6th. After that, focus will shift to the Feather by Feather and Other Stories pieces that were part of the original sampler (you can read them all even if you’re not a Patron, by looking through the fbf tag!) and share those. Since the majority of them are really short and there’s, like, 24 of them, I’ve shifted them to being bi-weekly for at least as long as it takes to share the short pieces. So those will appear on the first and third Tuesday of the month.

After that, I’ll be switching to finishing up reading the Patreon pieces posted to date and… then we’ll see where everything is at. I’m excited, though!

Completed Projects

  • 8/8 short stories recorded of Tales of the Little Engine

Goal Updates

  • 15/24 stories recorded of the Feather by Feather and Other Stories sampler
  • 1/3 discussions of papers in Asexuality and Sexual Normativity
  • 0/8 short essays for March/April
  • 3,832/10,000 words of fiction written
  • 15/12 books read

Writing Updates

This Week’s Fiction Wordcount: 363

This Week’s Non-Fiction Wordcount: 3,702

DemiPrincess2: Whoo! Progress! And the plot’s kicked it up a notch which will be… interesting. Look, you all wanted kelpies. I am not responsible for the consequences of that desire. (Okay, fine. I am.) Progress is sloooooow, but there is progress!

Life And Other Such Important Matters

Maybe I should just take this out until I actually have something to report? I enjoyed a delightful single Valentine’s Day yesterday, though. I spoilt myself rotten with productivity and peace and quiet. But mostly, I admit, I was waiting for today to roll about because a) new Star Trek: Discovery episode, b) new The Dragon Prince season!

Stand-out Positive Moment

Patreon actually got to my ticket about getting erroneously flagged (again) within a week! OMG! No need to stress out about losing visibility for over a month.

It’s time for Monday Musings! Wherein I ramble about various and sundry depending on my whim or Patreon requests/suggestions. Posts are somewhere below 2,500 words at most and consist of short personal essays and discussions.

Weekly Accountability

Hi, everyone! It’s that time again! Weekly updates delivered every Friday! This is the first full February update. Whoot!

Completed Projects

None yet!

Goal Updates

  • 1/3 discussions of papers in Asexuality and Sexual Normativity
  • 0/8 short essays for March/April
  • 3,469/10,000 words of fiction written
  • 9/12 books read (Admittedly, most of them books I didn’t finish because I wasn’t interested enough to finish.)

Writing Updates

This Week’s Fiction Wordcount: 3,469

This Week’s Non-Fiction Wordcount: 2,152

DemiPrincess2: Progress has been made! Huzzah! Now hopefully progress will continue and I won’t need to deal with kelpies for a few chapters.

Life And Other Such Important Matters

Surprising… no one, there is little new to remark here. Life continues as it does. I continue to muddle through it as best I can. Turns out I’m still really rubbish at condensing 15+ years of freelance into a coherent CV and cover letter.

Stand-out Positive Moment

I have one! But, sadly, I am not able to tell you much about it until later. Let’s just say I’m sitting on some superexciting news that I can’t wait to share with you all.

January Newsletter

Hi, everyone! It’s that time again! Monthly news and accountability! I can’t believe we’re already at the end of January. What. It was just yesterday that the new year began!

Life And Other Such Important Matters

One day I will have actual things to report here, but other than the fact that I’m writing this up whilst recovering from a cold I’m afraid I don’t really have much news? I mean, I doubt you’re all interested in my jobhunting woes.

Featured Post

Plans for 2019

As it’s the new year, let’s take a look at all the things I’m expecting to do and accomplish! It’s only the first, so I have no idea what 2019 has in store for anyone yet, so here is my ridiculously optimistic look at what I’m hoping this year will bring and what I’ll be working towards.

Yeah, that stayed the plan for a long time. I am fantastic at plans. (It’s better than I make it sound. I just… added the ace academic posts to the mix and they’re a bit more daunting than I expected at times. In a good way, mind. I enjoy them.)

Completed Projects

  • 9/9 episodes of The Dragon Prince watched
  • 1 essay draft on reading fantasy books with aphantasia
  • 1 essay draft on writing dyscalculia rep in A Promise Broken
  • 1 novella polished and sent out on submission (wish me luck!)

February Goals

  • 3 discussions of papers in Asexuality and Sexual Normativity
  • 8 short essays for March/April
  • 10,000 words of fiction written
  • 12 books read

Yes, I know. I’m being ambitious. But looooook at January. It should be absolutely doable. Somehow. If I don’t collapse in a fatigue. Which I won’t, but we’ll see how it goes. 2019 is the year I aim big.

January Goals

  • 5/4 discussions of papers in Asexuality and Sexual Normativity written
  • 51,257/10,000 words written
  • 34/13 books read

I may have smashed all of them. Yes, all of them. Long live nonfiction? I mean loooooook at those numbers. Now if I could just balance and harness that power for fiction, I’d be all set. To be fair, though, a good chunk of the books are short stories or books I didn’t finish. The only reason I read that much is because I started off the month with a round of reading books to see if they still held my interest.

The writing is a surprise, though it really shouldn’t be.

Writing Updates

This Month’s Fiction Wordcount: 16,811

This Month’s Non-Fiction Wordcount: 34,446

DemiPrincess2: I fixed what’d been bothering me about the chapters, but then I got derailed by trying to stay on top of the essays because what even is time management. I was aiming to get back on track the last days of January, but then I was wiped out by a cold. [sigh]

RibbonDancer: I got to polish up this novella, though, and sent it off to a venue, so now I get to go through the nailbiting waiting period to hear back.

Stand-out Positive Moment

[points up] I got a story off on suuuuuuub. Go me! I punched my anxiety square in the face and sent it off.

How about you? What have you been up to lately? Has anything awesome happened?
