Life And Other Such Important Matters

Well. The awesome thing I was hoping for didn’t pan out. I’m incredibly sad about it, but also pretty much everyone who heard the details was like “Yeah, no. That’s probably a good thing”, so… I don’t know how to feel. 🙁

I do have a fan, though! I think I mentioned that? Last year, my old and trusty fan broke during the heatwave and I couldn’t sleep for, like, 5 days straight. So this year I got one the moment I heard we were going to have one and before they were all sold out and oh glorious wonderful sleep! And then I got some baking beans, which I didn’t actually have, and some new shorts because everything I have is too hot and… yeah. Desperately needed something nice and cool.

But, yes. We’re experiencing a heat wave right now and… Well… If I end up being around sporadically or having to cancel the weekly essay reads until it passes… Please forgive me. I am trying my best and don’t deal well with heat. I don’t think that’s likely, but things may be slower as I try to balance life around the heat. Like I mentioned on Twitter, we’re definitely not going to be all right here in Europe because, well, our houses aren’t built to keep heat out, we’re not used to heat, it’s very humid heat and, frankly, the heat waves usually doesn’t last long enough to adjust to the higher temperatures. I’m scared for Cat because she refuses not to stay in a heat-trap and she’s elderly. (So far Cat is fine and logically she will likely stay fine, but still. I worry.)

Stand-out Positive Moment

Jenny (from Reading the End), who is an amazing person, offered to take a look at my Good Omens essay intro and very kindly beat it into a pulp for me. <3 So now it’s much better and more awesome than it was and I just want to give Jenny a shout-out because I get so ridiculously anxious about my essay intros and it was superkind and very helpful. <3 (Jenny is an awesome editor and do not let her tell you differently.)
